In response to strengthened International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations, the “Super-clean Marine Diesel” research and development project was initiated and overseen by Japan Ship Machinery & Equipment Association and promoted by the Nippon Foundation, led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism from 2007 to 2011.
